Virgo New Moon

Virgo New Moon. August 27, 2022 perfecting at 2:17am MDT. @04 degrees Virgo

This moon phase squares Mars in Gemini.

Venus in Leo is now also at 19degrees Leo. Making the same square as Moon and Sun during the Aquarius Full Moon we had two weeks ago. Here we are again in a Venus way. The starry sky is really asking us to work through the themes in our lives that are coming up for us. This go around with Venus we can deepen into the themes relating to relationships, beauty, creativity, love in general, and what we are not rejecting. Venus is really good at being picky, knowing what Venus wants and doesn’t wants- that makes her very intentional when she’s healthy and living in her groove. When she needs help is when she is not in her creative flow, relationships have gone array, spread way too thin on commitments to others, saying yes too much when she really wants to say no.

Grandmother moon, please share with me an aspect of my relationship within my soul that needs to become more aware during New Moon in Virgo?

Compassion.

Have compassion for what you see in yourself and those around you.

Having this kind of a bird’s eye view has great responsibility- responsibility can be expressed in the form of compassion and humility for the reasons we sin and how we are removed from living harmoniously in love.

At the moment, usually things around us have to get really painful that exposes our greatest darkness, this is when we call out and pray to understand what it is we are experiencing. The pain we are feeling. The compassion needed that much of the world around us is so heavily cloaked in a darkness that feels much different than the loving darkness we remember feeling.

For us in the Northern Hemisphere, having a bird’s eye view of the darkness in this perfecting moon is why we need to bring in compassion and humility. Seeing and feeling the difference in the ways darkness can be presented is a knowing that needs to be gently shared. The Maidan of Virgo has a gentle, sweet, innocent- as in hasn’t been hurt by the woes of the world, way to her.

She knows darkness from experiences of nature’s loving darkness, the peaceful ways in which we rest, recover and rejuvenate, this even includes our experiencing of the spirit world in our dream time. This leaves her being able to see and sense the other darkness.

What is other darkness?

This darkness is the one where we judge ourselves for wanting to do bad things to other people. And sometimes succeeding in doing these bad things. We lash out our anger at them. We tell them to f** off in traffic, or when they are perceivably in our way. The kind of darkness that happens when we push down how we really feel- depressing our painful and sad emotions is much like trying to push a beach ball under water.  We then  hyper-focus on that task so much that everything around us becomes dark- only seeing the emotions we would rather not see. This kind of darkness deadens us from the softness darkness can provide- a break we can receive from not having any form of sunlight being reflected back to us, as moon light is sunlight being reflected to earth.

The other darkness can feel like a battle ground, with murky details that don’t matter, practicalities that actually step us away from love and causes us to use our discriminating in inappropriate ways from what we really mean.

Bringing us back to compassion and humility. Keeping our longing to step out into the night and see with all of our senses the differences between these types of darkness. Giving ourselves the time to remember what loving darkness feels like.

The Madian knows that the world was not always an othering dark place. Deep in her instinctual beingness she remembers what it means to go out into nature’s darkness. The darkness that is meant to be supportive, nurturing, restoring. The darkness where we receive instead of close off. The darkness where we can open our eyes and see into the depths of the universe and the Milky Way- our home instead of the shadows that haunt and taunt our fears of distorted realities. The darkness where we can wonder and dream limitlessly instead dreading the light to come.

All of this reminds me of the mutable nature of the earthly Maidan archetype. That reminds me of the teaching that if you give love, safety, and security to an infant they naturally develop the discernment of what a lack of love, safety and security means out in the world- they already know the difference. They can remain innocent in their ability to have compassion for those around them while not accepting the other darkness into their lives.

I can see now reclaiming the innocence of the maidan in me is of great importance and of huge responsibility.
