Sagittarius New Moon
Sagittarius New Moon on Dec 12, 2023 at 4:32pm MDT, with energies perfecting at 20degrees Sagittarius
The aspect of this moon phase is a square to Neptune in Pisces (24degrees). Given that this energy in an applying aspect, I would liken this to how are my Neptunian functions adding pressure and tension to the Moon and Sun? Is there something here we can creatively work out during this time? What are our dreams informing us right now? What do you day dream about? Those moments add clarity to what may not be right in your life, what are you wishing for? Hoping for?
Grandmother Moon, please help me understand the energy around me and within me as I work to remove what blocks me from my real self in this New Moon in Sagittarius.
Admittedly, this moon phase took me a while to integrate and then translate into words. This had landed in an area of my chart that brought forward many things that made it hard in the moment to see the expanded awareness of the larger energetic scope at this time.
I do feel that Sagittarius inherently loves to explore, learn and commit to something that part of us is deeply passionate about. In that commitment we can find ourselves becoming in service to others, we want to bring it out into the world. When I feel about this exploration- I came up against emotional road blocks that tell me this isn’t safe to do. That engaging my desires with others, doing my passionate work, bringing forward into the world for others- something feels scary about that. Now, that’s my story to heal. I do feel that deep down all of us love learning and exploring interests that ignite our vitality, our deepest soul driven selves. I do also feel that this attributes to what may feel like our never ending energy, where we can expend on something we really get fired up with passion about. We play, dance, are capable of navigating mistakes and errors in this way without being hard on ourselves. In fact, this likely an area of your life where you feel carefree and can be the most gentle with self!
This moon phase is connected to the North Node and Chiron in Aries via a trine. Not strongly aspected, but a connection I personally couldn’t ignore feeling into- especially being that healing my exploratory way forward to this first pit stop. Now, as with all trine energy, I could have chosen not to look at this supportive aspect. But who really likes learning on their own? I understand somethings we like doing in isolation or alone, but it cannot be ignored that taking a class or joining a group of shared learning interest has historically been something we just do as humans. In ancient days we called it something else, like joining a guild or visiting a community member regularly who teaches you their knowledge- the essence is we humbly do not truly learn in isolation. We need the perspective, connection and balance of community.
While this trine aspect I found intriguing I also find it beautiful that it affirms deeper of what I just feel and wrote- the individual “I” of Aries works more harmoniously when supported by the group, Libra. Because this works both ways- the group is supported by the individual people in it. When I look at groups that function well they have a strong foundation of values and beliefs towards the common goal. We can also learn a lot by exploring groups that don’t work. Understanding the why it’s dysfunctional, what makes people stay, leave or become indifferent (maybe even through learned helplessness) can all be really helpful in charting your direction, teaching yourself what group(s) you need to leave or move into to develop your individuality.
There is also then this consideration for the tense squaring energy Neptune in Pisces- who just stationed direct. So here we have Neptune coming back from their inward experience to connect with our vitality and distribution of that vitality. This puts us in a check yourself in the mirror moment. What I mean by that is Neptune is where we look for our shadow, escapist and illusions, where we can learn to meditate and connect wholly. Individually we need to assess ourself before we assess a group, collective or community. Are we escaping reality by staying with dysfunction? Reflect on times where you’ve been removed from groups. Reflect on times where you changed so much in a relationship and community it became uncomfortable for everyone to have you there. I you have not had those experiences- I encourage you to ask why not? Neptune in popular astrology isn’t known for getting real with self- and in my experience with working with this planetary energy- that is exactly what I experience every single moment. When we pause and meditate, get real with our desires.
Getting real with our desires, what makes us feel good, what drives us forward in life- is the point. It can also be the block to our own self. Sometimes we need that meditative pause to assess those desires. Are you feeling stuck? What is going on in your life that can inform you of the type of seeds you are planting as we head into Winter? When we get caught up in the frenzy of life we can delude ourselves and forget to pay attention to the path we are on and what is happening around us. We can also get over philosophical and dig our heels in.
It is not all doom and gloom- what is the good stuff happening? What are you longing for? Are you starting to build your goals for the coming year? How do those feel? Is your life feeling incongruent with what you are planning to achieve and do for yourself? These are all functions of seed planting we routinely do in our life. We are given opportunities later to reflect on how we are nurturing our growth in life for that coming harvest- whenever that will be. It is good to have long range and short range desires, it keeps our souls feed regularly.
